Three Tips to Get Fit and Stay Fit
Weight loss occurs when an individual is in a state of negative energy balance. Weight loss plateaus are a fact of life for most dieters so you might as well get used to the fact that you actually stop losing weight at some point. This is nothing to worry about; just the opposite, it is quite normal. Once you reach a plateau you stay there a while and then start to lose more weight if you follow the same routine as before.
"Energy balance is the difference between calorie intake (from food & drinks) and calories out – through our metabolism & energy expended during daily activities."
"Any change in body weight is the result of an imbalance between energy intake and expenditure. People gain weight gradually because most days they’re in a state of positive energy balance (more calories in than body requires) and any excess is stored until the individual eventually realizes they’ve gained a few pounds."
I would recommend the following three tips to help you get fit, stay fit and lose weight at the same time.
- Lose inches off your stomach by changing what you eat.
- The best way to jump-start your metabolism, lose weight and get fit is to exercise.
- Supplement your nutritional needs with dietary supplements to make sure you don’t starve your body.
Maybe a little walking in the lap pool or some upper-body exercises would be in order. Here is a great exercise to do with Resistance Bands that works the outer thigh and is very effective at building muscle tone.
"For squats, stand on the band and hold the handles up towards the shoulders (elbows bent) to create more tension. You’ll probably want to use heavy resistance here since your leg muscles are large and will usually require more tension to fatigue them."

After an initial, in-depth assessment interview a good personal trainer will provide you with:a customized and personalized exercise plan including strength training and aerobic exercise. This is always helpful when you don’t want to exercise alone and need the motivation of someone guiding you along.
Regular exercise will bring you the following benefits:
- Increased energy.
- Self esteem.
- Focus.
Let a fitness trainer show you some of the exercise benefits of a fitness program. A fitness trainer can give you some great tips on finding and maintaining the motivation to exercise.
We are all inspired to become our unique selves. These feelings are the little “proofs” that we are headed in the right direction when we are on the road to becoming FIT. With all the comments from strangers and good-humored ribbing from friends, a state of exhilaration can be helpful towards motivation. You can make weight loss quicker and easier by increasing your metabolic rate and burning more calories.
A body that consumes 2500 calories a day, and burns 2500 calories a day will stay at the same weight. A body that consumes 2500 calories a day, and burns 3500 calories a day will lose weight. The secret to burning calories lies in knowing what determines your metabolic rate and what you can do to influence it.
This is the amount of calories you burn just by being alive – even when you are lying down, doing nothing. This accounts for approximately 30% of the calories burned by an average person. Although the average person burns around 30% of calories through daily activity, many sedentary people only use around 15%.
Then, take every opportunity to move – here’s some ideas for burning calories:
- Tap your feet
- Swing your legs
- Drum your fingers
- Stand up and stretch
- Move your head from side to side
- Change position
- Wriggle and fidget
- Pace up and down
As well as the actual amount of calories burned during exercise – studies have shown that sustained, high-intensity exercise makes you burn more calories for several hours afterwards.
So, to get fit, stay fit and lose weight you need to change what you eat (diet), exercise, and reduce the stress level in your life.
